The Jack Miller Center for Peripheral Neuropathy

The Jack Miller Center for Peripheral Neuropathy was established at the University of Chicago in May 2001. It is committed to educating the public and healthcare providers about this disease, providing state-of-the-art care to patients affected by peripheral neuropathy, and contributing to basic and clinical research in an effort to identify the causes and potential cures for these disorders.

Education

Through the use of the Internet, newsletters, public outreach programs and other resources, the Miller Center aims to provide neuropathy patients, and their families, with detailed, accurate and comprehensible information concerning the various types of peripheral neuropathies, including approaches toward their diagnosis and treatment.

Patient Care

Although many types of peripheral neuropathy are not currently treatable, the neurology professionals at the Miller Center use state-of-the-art equipment to provide accurate diagnoses. With proper treatment, the symptoms of peripheral neuropathy can often be managed and sometimes eliminated. The physicians affiliated with the Miller Center include:

Raymond P. Roos, M.D.
Professor, Department of Neurology

Betty Soliven, M.D
Associate Professor, Department of Neurology

Kourosh Rezania, M.D.
Assistant Professor, Department of Neurology

Research

The goal of the research component of the Miller Center is to promote multidisciplinary investigations into the etiology and pathogenesis of peripheral neuropathies. Research includes experimental studies to determine the molecular cause and eventual cure of these disorders. The research team includes:

Brian Popko, Ph.D.
Jack Miller Professor in Neurological Diseases and Associate Chair for Research, Department of Neurology
